Welcome to the official website of the Appalachian Audubon Society.  Appalachian Audubon is a local chapter of the National Audubon Society serving the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania area.   We serve Dauphin, Cumberland, Perry and part of York Counties.  For further information on our activities please follow one of the links above.  All of our programs and field trips are open to the public.  We maintain Trout Run Preserve which is also open to the public.  We hope to see you at one of our meetings or field trips!

Appalachian Audubon is dedicated to conserving birds and wildlife and their habitats through education, land conservation and stewardship.

Appalachian Audubon Announces Scholarships to Hog Island

Application Deadline January 28, 2012

Appalachian Audubon is pleased to announce that it will fund two scholarships to Hog Island this summer.

The first is a scholarship to the Hog Island "Coastal Bird Studies for Teens" camp the week of June 17-22, 2012.  This scholarship has a value of $995 and will cover the full cost of registration for the camp. http://www.projectpuffin.org/OrnithCampsDescriptionCMBST.html#Programs

The second is a $500 (partial) scholarship to the Hog Island "Sharing Nature:  An Educator's Week" camp, which takes place July 19-24, 2012.http://www.projectpuffin.org/OrnithCampsDescriptionTCHR.html#Programs

For both scholarships, the successful candidate must provide his/her own transportation to and from the Audubon dock in Bremen, Maine, at the start and end of the session and cover any other costs.  To be considered, the appropriate application must be completed and returned via email to Arlene Buchholz, AAS Education Chair, at abvetlab@yahoo.com, by January 28, 2012.  Candidates will be notified within a few days of the application deadline.
