As a chapter of the national Audubon Society, our purpose is to conduct education, science, and charitable activities to conserve and restore natural ecosystems, focusing on birds, other wildlife, and their habitats.

SPRING AND FALL NATIVE PLANT SALE
AAS holds a Native Plant Sale at Diakon Wilderness Greenhouse every April and September

SILENT AUCTION
AAS holds an annual online silent auction in April/May of each year.
Donations have been received and excitement is building for the Annual Online Silent Auction! Bidding is open and runs through Saturday, May 4 at 10:00 p.m. The auction will be held on the BiddingOwl website:

ANNUAL CELEBRATION
AAS holds an annual celebration at the end of May at the Lower Allen Township Park which includes a bird walk and more.
Join Appalachian Audubon Society to celebrate the 2023–2024 year on Saturday, May 18th at the Fernlawn Pavilion at Lower Allen Community Park; 4075 Lisburn Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055 from 1:00 p.m.–3:00 p.m. AAS will be hosting a birdwalk, a potluck picnic, an educational program from ZooAmerica, fun activities for kids, and more! Volunteer Opportunities
Saturday, April 27th, 10am-4pm – Tabling at Wildwood Park’s Wetlands Festival - signup here
Saturday, April 27th, 9am – 3pm – assisting at AAS’s Spring Native Plant Sale.
Diakon Wilderness greenhouse will be in need of volunteers to pot up native plants in the greenhouse so they can be ready for the spring sales. Kim shared the Sign Up Genius link that has the following dates to choose from. The city of Harrisburg has partnered with us to host some bird walks this spring and early summer. Staff from the city will be present, but we will also need at least one trip leader from AAS to attend each date.

Note: The hike will be a bit more intermediate, as we'll be exploring a hiking trail down to the Greenbelt.
